Understanding Trading Partner Templates

Trading partner templates can help eliminate repetitive data entry. Templates are used to enter default information on import into Transaction Manager. Note that the default information must always be the same for transactions utilizing this template.

To modify a trading partner template:

  1. Open the Trading Partner view from the navigation menu.

  2. On the Trading Partner Identifiers page, click the trading partner to be modified and select Preferences | Transactions from the action bar.

  3. Select the Transaction Type and click the Templates button in the action bar.

The template detail is displayed.

Warning

Do not complete any fields that will change with each newly-created transaction.

  1. Complete any of the fields necessary to duplicate each time a transaction is created within Transaction Manager. The information entered into this template is reproduced each time this particular transaction is created for this trading partner.

Note

If there are multiple templates for a trading partner, each template will need to be modified as applicable.

  1. Click Save to retain the changes.

Note

If you want certain template fields to be required, select a preferred transaction on the Transaction Setup page to highlight it, then click Template on the action bar to open the Template page.

Click the field that you want to make required, then click Make field required on the action bar. The field will turn blue to indicate it is now a required field.

Click the Save button to save this change.

To remove the requirement setting from the highlighted field, click Make field not required on the action bar. The field will no longer be blue, indicating it is no longer a required field.

Additionally, if you open the Administration view from the navigation menu, then click System Configuration in its submenu, you can select a preferred color to indicate the Trading Partner required field, as well as a preferred color for UDFs from the Required Field Colors drop-downs (Remember to click the Save button to save your preferences).
